CRB Check and Motoring Offences (UK)?

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the CRB check in relation to motoring offenses, such as disqualifications and if these will show on the CRB check?

In the relation to this, I had a name change a few years back (unrelated) after the disqualification. Everything has been updated like passport, etc, except the CRB and police.

According to Deed poll, once I have changed my name, I can no longer use my previous name, and my employer hasn't asked for this information. Does that mean that the CRB will be performed on my name now, and as such, the disqualification from a few years ago will not show?

Besides that, I'm as clean as a whistle.

Thanks

If you didn't go to court, motoring offenses generally don't show on a disclosure. Say you got disqualified for getting 12 points on cameras, or something.

If you change your name, you are supposed to put your old name on the Disclosure form under section C so the CRB can check records under the old name. It is the same with deed poll as it is is with a marriage.

So say your old name was your birth name, you would put your old name under surname at birth. Or if your old name was a married name, you would put it under "any other surnames used."

If your employer uses other identifiers like your date of birth and social security number, the old name and record will probably show. If they do a search by name only, you'll be fine!
The only motoring offences that will be logged on your record will be serious offences such as causing death by dangerous driving and motoring theft offences.

In general minor motoring offences do not show up on CRB checks.

If you are applying for professional driving jobs such as driving children and members of the general public around then, details of all offences will be disclosed.

I hope this clarifies matters and these details are only relevant to the UK.
