What are good exercises to develop vibrato?

I want to perform "Somebody To Love" by Queen In the spring at my school Talent show, called Austin Idol. I have a good enough voice, not too great, and i can get an ok vibrato on a certain style i can sing in. So i wanted to know if anyone could help me with some tips on how to do improve my vibrato...i dont have money to go to a vocal or singing coach :( ! Please let me know!

The best way to develop vibrato is to sing a note and move it back and forth like a siren, start slow between two notes and continue to get it faster and faster. the only way you'll be able to get it faster and nicer sounding is to practice. But starting your vibrato by doing it over the top is by-far the best way to learn how to sing vibrato! the more extreme an over the top the siren sound, the better! good luck :)

1. That old saying comes to mind 鈥?"If you want to get to Carnegie, practice."

2. Seriously, if you can't afford an operatic vocal instructor, who can really teach you how to train your diaphramic breathing, and break your bad habits, help you find your break from Tenor past F3, then just get through the song the best you can.

3. Colleges have postings by students for inexpensive voice lessons. I would check into that if I were you.

4. You may be wondering why I am referring you to an operatic teacher. Because, it is hard work and sloppy sliding into notes is not cool. You want complete control of your vocal chords and most importantly to sing on key.

5. If you do that Queen song, make it your own cover version. That shows real creative talent. Record yourself %26amp; play it back, so that you will be able to see what needs fixing. When you sing a song, sing it always like you mean it, if you are not the songwriter. If you don't believe it, it will come across stiff.

Good Luck and Warm Wishes.
I have to agree with Mitch and disagree with Andrewlee...sorry Andrew...but Mitch is right...get with an opera coach who can train you how to use the voice properly, proper breathing, support...the whole 9 yards...it all goes hand in hand...Vibrato is actually a pretty natural thing that just kind of falls into place once everything else is in line! Get with a teacher. Check with the college. They have teachers and sometimes outside teachers...sometimes students who have had enough training and are teaching in oder to better themselves as well! Look into it and go for it...but don't try to do ti on your own or it will most likely end up sloppy and cou;ld even damage your voice rather than improve it!
