If you cannot have foreign players in a national team, why is it acceptable to have a foreign manage

Why? I KNOW for a fact that if we (England) didn't have Sven Gormless Emotion-void as a 'manager' throughout our dismal showing in this World Cup, we would have gone much further and performed better.

I am certain that if a real patriot like Terry Venables (for example) had been in charge this year we could have gone all the way. We had the talent there, we just lacked the passion and desire to win. Also our tactics were unbelievably poor.

As for the sickeningly dull, emotionless, uncaring, passionless drip Sven (I don't like him much by the way).. he really couldn't give a ****. It was there for all to see... you look at other managers like Klinsmann and Scolari screaming their lungs out and then Eriksson by contrast clicks his fingers in mild disappointment every now and then, all the while thinking 'oh well, I'm off on holiday next week'.

So if you cannot have foreign players playing in the team, why is it OK to have a foreign manager?!

I am English too and I never liked the idea of a foreigner being in charge of England. That has traditionally been a tactic of the smaller footballing nations, not England. I am glad we at least have a English manager now, we shall see whether it does us any good or not.
even worst, many of them are hiring foreign coaches and they claimed they're the best.. i.e Portugal..
That is a great question and i believe in any team the manager plays a big role!

We should have a patriot in charge!
England choose who they thought was the best man for the job at the time. It could off been worse we could off ended up with a scotsman as manager. Hopefully we have now got the right man in position.
Because less traditional countries, like Japan, SKorea, Australia and the african teams don't have a very good infra-structure in their internal tournaments. The teams are weak and so are the managers, so they have to bring experienced ones (from countries were these guys were able to get experience against strong teams), to make their team learn something.

I don't see any problem with the manager being a foreigner, I wouldn't expect most african teams to have a good result, if their manager wasn't good. With weak internal tournaments, the countries just can't have good referees or managers, the best players are always taken to big clubs, but the others are left in the dust.

I don't like the "calm type" of manager, they don't impose their rules to the players, and when you have a team of stars the coach MUST impose himself, or they will play "just good enough" and not give their best.

I agree the foreign manager could be bribed by his country to get your team out(stupid dont you agree)
my point exactly . some of these players play for our teams all year round but dont take a second thought in playing against us an using the knowledge of our play to do that
